About Easter transparent PNG images
Why eggs get painted in spring
Eggs have been decorated for far longer than Easter has existed. Painted and carved eggs turn up in old spring customs across Europe and the Middle East, where the egg stood for new life after winter. Churches later tied the egg to Easter itself, and the custom spread with it. Families dyed eggs in onion skins, beetroot and other kitchen colours long before packets of dye were sold, and some regions built whole crafts around the work, covering shells in wax patterns that took hours. The painting survived because it suits the season: an egg is small, cheap, and takes colour well. Red was the commonest dye colour in many places, made from madder root or onion skins.
Baskets, bunnies, chicks and the eggs themselves
Painted eggs fill most of this gallery: single eggs with stripes, dots and zigzags, marbled shells, glitter finishes and plain dyed eggs in heaps and rows. Baskets and nests hold the groups together, and egg cups, wreaths and garlands give the same eggs different shapes. Around them stand the animals of the season. The bunny belongs to egg hunts in folk tales told to children, chicks hatch out of cracked painted shells, and lambs turn up because spring is lambing time on farms. Chocolate eggs and foil-wrapped bunnies cover the sweet side of the holiday.
Cards, hunts and classroom walls
Easter cards take the largest share. A basket or a painted egg fills the front of a card without crowding the greeting inside, and shops use the same cutouts on spring sale banners and window posters. Egg hunts need signs, clue cards and prize labels, often printed the night before, and a cutout of a bright egg reads clearly from a distance. Teachers put chicks and eggs on classroom walls, worksheets and reward charts through the spring term. Churches and community groups borrow the eggs and lambs for service sheets and fête posters, where the pictures have to stay cheerful and plain.
Dropping an Easter cutout into a design
All of these images have transparent backgrounds, so a painted egg can sit on coloured card, a spring photograph or a plain white page and keep its shell pattern clear. Single eggs suit small spaces like stickers and gift tags. Baskets, wreaths and garlands carry wider layouts such as banners and poster tops. The pastel eggs sit well on dark paper, while the bright dyed eggs hold their own on white. If you came here for Easter PNG images free download, pick the shape that fits your space, and check the license on its own image page before the design goes out.
